The grand mineral-spring resorts that once drew wealthy travelers from San Francisco still attract visitors looking for an escape from the city—and those visitors still expect to be entertained.

And where there is a demand for liquor, there is always someone willing to supply it.

Deep in the hills, far from the eyes of the law, there is a place that does not appear on any map.

Locals simply call it The Stonehouse.

By day, it is nothing more than an isolated country property. But after dark, a hidden door opens and the Stonehouse comes alive. Behind its walls, the county’s most influential bootleggers, ranchers, landowners, former winemakers, politicians, gamblers, and socialites gather to drink forbidden wine and whiskey.

Then, three nights ago, someone was murdered at the Stonehouse.
